Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:
Why is it so prevalent with liberal, leftist, social “progressives” (I repeat myself) that they make a big stink but never address the real issues that caused the big stink?? Here we go again! In the last two weeks, two writers in the Marion County Express (Finney 2-9 & 2-16-2024 and Timmer 2-16-2024) bloviated against our Iowa Legislature for daring to make laws for public schools and libraries that PROTECT our JUVENILES from predators. The issue is not about who won or lost the municipal vote last fall. No one can defend the evils making these laws necessary!

Do not vilify our Legislature for actually enacting PROTECTION for OUR JUVENILES! We all are aware of the mess last year and that’s why we are so appreciative of our Legislature for recognizing Iowans need to be represented in our public libraries. Let’s face the real issues that brought these laws front and center – pornography of the most insidious, graphic sexual imagery forced on vulnerable young people below 18 years of age (illegal anywhere else in the state).

Lord bless our Legislature for last year stopping the pornographic materials in our state’s Public Schools (including “family friendly” Pella which secretly inserted filth into their elementary, middle and high schools). Our Legislature passed that law to PROTECT OUR CHILDREN from predators and exploiters. Now, our Legislature offers Iowans a voice as it would put financial decisions for our Public Libraries into the hands of duly elected city officials, not handpicked, woke library boards. Thank your legislators. Encourage and support them in this new, needed endeavor to PROTECT our INNOCENTS and give us a voice!
