The Iowa Public Information Board accepted a complaint filed by John Bandstra against the South Central Regional Airport Agency at a hearing late last week.
Bandstra accuses the SCRAA of violating Iowa’s Open Meetings Law, which is explained in Iowa Code Chapter 21.5. Questions were raised in the meeting regarding the application of the law to the SCRAA, because, even though the agency was created in 2002, there is still no physical regional airport to think of.
IPIB disagreed, and voted nearly unanimously (Pella’s Joan Corbin is on the board and abstained.) to accept the complaint. The next step is for IPIB to work on a potential informal resolution between the SCRAA and the complainants.
