TC, M-D Boards meet

The school boards for Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars held a joint meeting last week, regarding the possibility of going to four-day weeks in the coming school year.
The districts share multiple staff members; one district would not be able to go to four-day weeks on its own without creating difficulty. Both struggle to fill staff positions and Superintendent Scott Bridges believes a shorter work week may make a job at either district more attractive to teachers.
Bridges said the boards had a really good discussion over the topic of the four-day week.
“They discussed topics such as the impact on daycare, student achievement, Monday vs Friday off, start and end times for the day, among other things,” Bridges said. “I would not want to speculate at this time how the board may vote on the issue. There will be more discussion at the March board meetings, and a decision will be made in April.”
