Central sending 10 entries to NCAA indoor track and field meet

PELLA – Three relay teams and seven individual entries make up the large contingent of Central College track and field athletes entered in the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The national meet is to be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia this Friday and Saturday.

The women’s distance medley relay squad of Megan Johnson (senior, Parkersburg, Aplington-Parkersburg HS), Abbi Roerdink (senior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS), Peyton Steffen (sophomore, Marion) and Caroline McMartin (senior, Pella) are making a return trip after earning All-American accolades in 2023. Individually, McMartin is in the mile, Johnson is in the 3000 meters and Roerdink is in the 400 meters.
Roerdink is also the anchor leg of the women’s 4×400-meter relay team that qualified with Lizzy Van Utrecht (freshman Ottumwa, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont HS), Ava Parkins (freshman, Monmouth, Illinois, Burlington Notre Dame HS) and Abby Gruver (senior, Sully, Lynnville-Sully HS). Olivia Bohlen (sophomore, Belle Plaine) will make her national debut in the pentathlon.


The men’s distance medley relay team of Adam Sylvia (fifth year, Rochester, Mass., Old Rochester HS), Noah Erickson (senior, Mount Vernon), Jack Brown (freshman, Norwalk) and Noah Jorgenson (senior, Sidney) is in the field. Jorgenson and Sylvia are also running individually in the mile. High jumper Gunner Meyer (sophomore, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) will make his national debut.
