The Pella Community Development Committee approved the design permit for Kwik Star at its meeting May 8.
Pending all pre-construction approvals, the company hopes to build next year at Highway 163 and Washington Street. As it will be in the Gateway Corridor, the Dutch design is required.
Kwik Star will have thicker gables over its front door than those the committee have required in the past. The committee was complimentary of Kwik Star and the company’s willingness to work with staff and respect the City’s wishes.
The design includes a metal dipped roof, brick accents – including for the doors and windows. A Kwik Star spokesperson said she believes the design stays true to the company’s brand while meeting design requirements.
