Several Little Dutch Academy contracts approved

The Pella School Board approved several hires Monday night to add to the staff of the Little Dutch Academy. New hires included Sarah Schreur – Lead Caregiver, along with Victoria Stoll, Kirra Westra, Charlie Bragg, Jennah Traynor, Abigail Miller and Rachel Pforts as caregivers. A few staff members will also transfer from their current positions to the LDA. They include:

  • Bethany Huddleston – From ME Associate to Lead Caregiver at LDA
  • Darci Kaplan – From ME Associate to Lead Caregiver at LDA
  • Sydney Davis – From ME Associate to Caregiver at LDA
  • Amy Killoren – From ME Associate to Caregiver at LDA
  • Debinee King – From ME Associate to 3 Year Old Preschool Associate
  • KerriAnne McCain – From HS Associate to Lead Caregiver at LDA

Superintendent Greg Ebeling said this does not complete the hiring necessary to fully staff the LDA. It, as well as the rest of the buildings in the district, still have many open positions. A walk-in hiring event is scheduled to be held for the district on June 6 from 3-5:30 p.m. in the high school commons. The LDA was part of a $40 million investment into facilities improvements that are ongoing. The final financial component of these projects is falling into place after another action by the board Monday night. Voters approved the board’s ability to borrow up to $40 million for the projects, but the district could not add that much debt in a single year. Actions to issue the final $11,835,000 to cover the costs were approved. The bonds will be sold to Robert W. Baird & Co, who was also the purchaser on the first series of voted bonds. The interest rate will be 4.0636 percent.
