Helen Marie Heinmiller was born October 16, 1940 in Clarksville, Iowa to Julius "Bud" and Marie
Smith Heinmiller. Her father Bud died at a young age and she was close to her stepfather, Amos
Brake. Being one of five children, the family moved to Des Moines in 1950 where Helen attended
East Schools and graduated in 1958. She began working in Des Moines for Recording & Statistical
for 2 years. She ran into Gearold Parks in Des Moines, and they fell in love and were married
November 12, 1960. They were blessed with three boys: Gearold Jr, Doug, and Randy.

The stayed home and raised her family. As they were grown she worked for Pella Corp and retired
in 2008. Her family always came first. She loved her boys, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family always found time for camping and fishing, but the highlight of Helen and Gearold's
summer was attending races all over the state and Midwest.

Helen loved her community and was an active member in the Methodist Church where she was a
member of the choir and volunteered for the soup suppers and other events hosted by the
church. She was also a member of the Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue and was an EMT for many
years.

Helen enjoyed visiting with friends and would often be found at the "Round Table" at D&S
Grocery with many friends sharing in stories and local news. It's hard to think of Helen without
thinking of Gearold. They were inseparable and truly loved each other and leaned on one another
for support. They went through the great loss of losing Gearold Jr and Randy, but they comforted
each other and trudged on as one must, and they did it together.

Helen passed away, August 21st. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 64 years Gearold
Parks; son, Doug (Lora Goff) Parks; grandchildren: Abby (Justin) Masters and Joshua (Aspen)
Parks; great grandchildren: Josh and Walker; and sisters: Melinda (Bobby) Irby and Teresa (Chris)
Wilson; along with many relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are sons: Gearold Parks Jr., and Randy Parks; daughter-in-law, Patty
Parks; sister, Judith Heinmiller; and brother, David Heinmiller.
