Yard signs being stolen

October 02, 2024

The Pella Police Department has taken at least a dozen reports of stolen political signs
from yards. Most of them have been Harris-Walz.

Captain Paul Haase says the thefts have occurred “all over” town and the signs have
often been stolen under the cover of darkness. The PPD is open to any leads regarding
who may be behind the thefts.

Haase said the signs may just be cardboard and steel, but it is still theft and when
thieves go onto someone’s property, it is still trespassing.

“Those reporting are upset,” Haase said. “The signs mean a little more when it’s
something you’re passionate about.”

Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller said there have been a few reports taken. In the
county, Sheriff Jason Sandholdt said his department has taken three reports.
Residents are encouraged to keep their outdoor lights on when possible.
