VINTON-Jacquelyn “Jacquie” Ruby Hodgson, 78, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, on
Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Van
Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 31, at
Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Vinton Country Club.
Jacquie was born April 9, 1946 in Pleasantville, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Reeves) Horsman.
She attended school in Pleasantville, graduating in 1964. She then graduated from Iowa State University
where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. On August 21, 1962, Jacquie was united
in marriage to James Hodgson in Princeton, MO. Jacquie taught school in Virginia while Jim was in the
service, and in Iowa, she taught in Ames, Belle Plaine, and Vinton. Previously, Jacquie and Jim were co-
owners of Big Timber with Ted and Jeanne Mann.
In her leisure time, Jacquie enjoyed quilting, reading, working Sudoku puzzles, sitting outside listening to
the birds sing, and spending time in her flower garden. She was a past member of PEO.
Left to cherish Jacquie’s memory are her husband of 62 years, Jim of Vinton; daughters: Marijke
Hodgson of Des Moines, and Erika Hodgson of Vinton; granddaughters: Gretta Dilley of Vinton, and
Sophia Dilley of Cedar Rapids; father, Joseph Horsman of Pleasantville; sister, Pam (Tom) Mohr of
Pleasantville; brother, Rodney (Brenda) Horsman, Pleasantville; and uncle, Harold Horsman of
Pleasantville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Horsman; maternal grandparents, Logan and Bernadine
Conn; and paternal grandparents, Court and Lola Horsman.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Jacquie’s name.
