Janice Margaret Moses Beaver passed away on April 14, 2025 at the age of 87. Janice was born on May 19, 1937 to Edward and Mabel (Brady) Moses in Iowa City, IA. She grew up in Pershing, IA along with her two older brothers. She graduated from Attica High School in 1955. She was close with her brothers as she would follow them to school everyday at a young age, except when she broke her leg and was unable to attend school for a year.
The same year that Janice graduated she married the love of her life Gareth James Beaver. Together, they shared 66 years, making wonderful memories, having four kids, and later adding grandkids and great grandkids, whom she adored. Jim sadly passed away in 2021, leaving behind Janice and their loving family.
She worked at the Overall factory in Knoxville, IA for a while. As the children came she became a stay at home mom for several years. She started working at Hardee's in 1980 as a biscuit maker. Then moving onto the VA food service and retiring in 2006. She made everything from scratch. From bread, rolls, noodles, and even churning her own butter. She was best known for her fried chicken and homemade ice cream. Something Janice will be especially remembered for is her "strawberry" kitchen. Janice would only decorate her kitchen with strawberries, as it was something she loved.
Janice had many other hobbies during her lifetime including gardening, canning, ceramics, and cake decorating. She was a seamstress, making lots of clothes for her family. Everything she did was out of love for her family, especially for her grandchildren who she dearly loved.
Janice leaves behind four children: Ronia (Kent) Klootwyk, James (Diana) Beaver, Robert (Jackie) Beaver, and Candace (Jeff) Brewster; eleven grandchildren: Scott Massick, Nicole (Darin) Fliear, Lisa (Bryan) Furler, Matt (Jennifer) Beaver, Jake Beaver, Megan (Ben) Sigmund, Ian (Mallory) Martinache, Jocelyn (Jared) Fee, Jordan (Zach) Edwards, Katelyn Brewster, and Ben Brewster; 17 great grandkids; brother, Ed Moses; sisters and brothers-in-law: Beverly (Lloyd) Havener, Thelma Beaver, Roger Beaver, Ron (Margaret) Beaver; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Edward and Mabel Moses; her husband, Jim Beaver; and brother, Ronald Moses.
