Margaret Elaine Anderson, 85, of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 24,
2025, at her home with her family by her side. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on
Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. A service honoring
Margaret’s life will begin at 2:30 p.m., with a meal to follow at the funeral home. Margaret will
be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
Margaret was born at home in Knoxville, Iowa, on January 8, 1940, to Clarence and Beulah
(Cee) Anderson. Her early years were shaped by a humble beginning where she started her
education in a one-room schoolhouse, attending until eighth grade before graduating from
Knoxville High School with the Class of 1958.
On August 1, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard Anderson. Together, they built a
home in Melcher and raised seven children, creating a legacy rooted in love, hard work, and
devotion. When her children were young, Margaret devoted herself entirely to their care. As they
grew, she worked outside the home—first as a CNA at Griffin Nursing Home, and later at 3M,
where she remained for many years before retiring.
More than anything else, her family was the most important part of her life. She cherished every
moment spent with them. Her grandchildren always knew they would leave Grandma’s house
with a snack or a little extra spending money in their pocket. During the pandemic, she mailed
cards with sticks of gum to her great-grandchildren, a simple gesture that showed she was always
thinking of them. Her generosity extended beyond family; any time she saw someone in need,
she felt compelled to help in any way she could.
Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures of life: shopping trips to Hobby Lobby, searching for
the perfect new purse and billfold, cheering for her beloved Chicago Cubs, and listening to Elvis
Presley. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the
privilege of knowing her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Donna (Mark) Bishop, Patrick Anderson, Matt
(Angie) Anderson, C.J. (Lisa) Anderson, Kim (Dennis) Rowley, and Lisa (Jim) Crozier; siblings:
Judy (Dick) Patterson, Robin Anderson, and Robert (Charles Wemple) Anderson; a son in-law
Jerry (Darla) Kennedy; and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren whom were her
pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Beulah Anderson; husband, Richard;
daughter, Laurie Kennedy; and her sister, Diana Bangs.
Memorials in Margaret’s name may be directed to the Melcher-Dallas Fire Department.
