Kenneth Terry McBroom

Kenneth Terry McBroom, 68, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Knoxville, Iowa,
surrounded by his family. The family will greet guests at Pierschbacher Funeral
Home in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7,
2025. Terry will be laid to rest immediately following at Columbia Cemetery next
to his late son, Eric.
Terry was born on April 30th, 1957, to Kenneth and Shirley (Chambers)
McBroom. He grew up on the family farm in Garden Grove. Growing up on the
farm taught Terry many skills he kept with him throughout his life. From working
the land to caring for the animals, he learned the meaning of hard work. He
enjoyed growing his own food in the garden but had a fondness for his flowers.
From the old oak tree to the little crab apple tree, he could name them all. Terry
also had an exponential love for animals, large or small. From a butterfly on his
finger, to his best friend, Clem; he was an animal whisperer.
He graduated from Mormon Trail High School, and eventually took a job with
Pella Corp. Terry also owned his own DJ business, where he could bring life to
any party. He worked many events throughout the years from weddings to school
dances. If you were one of the lucky few to see him and his wife dance and sing,
they were quite the pair. In his free time Terry loved to read. Over the years, he
read a library worth of books. From a horror classic to a western, or a thriller to a
romance, it was always worth the read.
Above all else, Terry loved his family. He worked hard he played even harder.
While he may have appeared to have that tough exterior, he was a loving man.
He was especially fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be
missed by so many who loved him and will carry on in his name.
Terry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha; children, Jason McBroom and
Elizabeth (Don Lee) Bates; grandchildren: Mercedes, Dakota, Braxton, Elly,
Kylee, Jaslyn, Gracie, Emilie, Noah, and Amanda; great grandchildren, Reagan
and Gabriel; brother, Dana McBroom, sister, Cherene (Chad) Patterson; and
many other loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Son, Eric McBroom; brother, Noel
McBroom; and a great granddaughter, Evelyn.
