Norma “Geannie” Bingham

September 08, 2025

Norma “Geannie” Bingham, age 91, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Wisconsin, surrounded by her loving family.

Please join Geannie’s family for a Celebration of Life—a time to share stories, food, and fellowship—on Saturday, September 13th, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville.

Memorials may be made in care of her family and will be designated at a later date.

Born a New Year’s baby in 1934 to John and Mary Polich, Geannie was raised in Melcher and graduated from Melcher High School in 1952. A standout basketball player in the late '40s and early '50s, her love of sports grew into a lifelong passion. She especially loved cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their many athletic endeavors.

On November 11, 1954, she married her true love, Darl Bingham. They made their home in Knoxville and raised seven children: Jim, Stephanie, Lani, Micki, Mike, Steve, and Cappi. Geannie cherished her role as a mother, staying young at heart as she raised her children across the years. Known to many as “Mom,” she welcomed not only her own children but also their friends and members of the community into her heart and home.

In the early years, the family was actively involved in showing Quarter Horses, which became a second family and community for them. Geannie was also an enthusiastic supporter of Darl’s fast-pitch softball, especially his time playing with the Belinda team. The couple treasured the friendships formed during these years.

A devoted homemaker, Geannie’s greatest joy came when she became a grandmother. Her care for others was unmatched—she had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, watching basketball and westerns on TV, and listening to her favorite music. She was a passionate fan of Elvis Presley, proudly owning every album, and also adored Frank Sinatra.

Geannie will be deeply missed by her children: Jim, Stephie (Larry), Lani, Micki (Bob), Steve (Lesia), and Cappi (Gary); her 11 grandchildren: James, Christian, Dani, Shannon, Stephen, Ashley, Abby, Michael, Joshua, Sonia, and Sophia; and her 7 great-grandchildren: Michael, Connor, Liam, Jakobe, Jayce, Raylyn, and Aydn. She is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Darl Bingham, and her son Michael.

A special thank you to Mark and Kim Stanton. And a special thank you to the Pierschbacher Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion during this very difficult time.
