Ronald Dale Rodgers was born February 9, 1943, in Knoxville, Iowa to Dale and Betty Rodgers. He was
raised alongside his sister, Connie near Attica. Graduating from high school in 1961, Ron joined the
National Guard, worked as a welder at Massey Ferguson in Des Moines, and continued to farm, raising
hogs and crops. But Ron was a man of many talents and along with farming he took a course in Texas at
an auctioneering school and started the Rodgers Auction Service; along with this and his love for
farming, the rural life, and of course his ability to talk with anyone, he also started an appraisal
business valuing homes and farms all throughout Iowa and Missouri. This also led to him being a real
estate agent for Farmer’s National and ReMax.
By his side was his wife, Linda Sue Kane Rodgers, married on February 20, 1965, they were blessed with
two children: Jason and Tisha. They complimented each other well. She had rules to follow and did
things by the book, Ron did not. He knew everyone, talked to everyone, and helped everyone he could.
He had such a big heart and would give to others, sometimes this was his biggest fault, but he always
said, “You got to help people.”
Ron was a prankster and loved a good joke. Nothing was off limits, and he even practiced shooting the
bow and arrow in his office. He and Linda camped at the State Fair every year, he always looked
forward to the visits he could have while sitting on a bench at the fairgrounds. He loved time spent with
his kids and especially his grandchildren, passing along lots of useful information and life lessons. He
also enjoyed drawing and could whip out anything in short notice. Sometimes he would draw on the
doors in the hog house or a wall in the barn leaving many great examples of his work all over the farm.
He was also a pet lover and took good care of his barn cats and was especially close to his dog, Gidget.
Ron left his mark on this world in many ways, but he will especially be remembered for the love shown
to his family and the kindness shown to all he met.
Ron passed away October 5th at the West Ridge Specialty Care. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Linda in 2022; and brother-in-law, Rich Lambirth. Surviving are his children: Jason (Nicole) Rodgers and
Tisha (Jeremy) Hansen; grandchildren: Nic Rodgers, Leah Hansen, and Jace Hansen; sister, Connie
Lambirth; sister-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Richards; and many relatives and friends.
