Garry Fisher

Funeral services for Garry Fisher, 73, of Knoxville, will be held Monday, July 27, at 11:00
a.m. at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. A luncheon will follow the service,
with interment at Pleasantville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at
Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Garry’s name may be made to the Dallcher American
Legion Post 632.
Garry Fisher was born July 15, 1953, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Elvis and Lois Fisher. As one
of six children, Garry grew up in a busy household where he developed a strong work
ethic and a natural talent for operating machinery. He graduated from Melcher-Dallas
High School in 1972.
Garry married Patti Davis in July 1975. They were blessed with four children: Danell,
WinDe, Misty, and Tyson.
Throughout his life, Garry worked at AMF (American Manufacturing and Foundry), CL
Carroll Company, and the City of Melcher-Dallas. He also owned and operated Fisher
Plumbing and Heating. Garry loved operating equipment and had a remarkable ability to
work with numbers, use mathematics to solve problems, and fix nearly anything. He
was truly a jack of all trades—and often better than a master of one.
Garry proudly served his community as a member of the Melcher-Dallas Fire
Department and as mayor of Melcher-Dallas.
In his free time, Garry loved racing. NHRA drag racing was his favorite, but he also
enjoyed watching NASCAR and IndyCar racing. He disliked cold weather and spent
several months each year in the Southwest, often in Arizona or New Mexico. He also
enjoyed traveling on his 1994 Dyna Low Rider.
Garry also had a passion for gardening. When he could no longer maintain a garden, he
continued caring for many potted plants near his large window.
Although Garry was a quiet man, he was always genuinely interested in others. He
loved his children and grandchildren deeply and was incredibly proud of each of them.
He was always curious about what they had been doing and enjoyed hearing about
their lives.
Garry passed away on July 20, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Danell (Art) Clark, WinDe (Tim) Carpenter,
Misty Fisher, and Tyson (Taylor) Fisher; eight grandchildren, Curtis (Alyse), Emma, Eli,
Lane (Macy), Oaklynn, Bodie, Jaxson, and Teagan; siblings, Carolyn Breese, Geraldine
“Geri” Lee, Terry Fisher, and Barry (Becky) Fisher; and many nieces, nephews,
relatives, and friends.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Lois Fisher; his brother, Larry
Fisher; and his uncle, Edgar Fisher.
