Eric Wilson, 57, passed away on December 8, 2024, in Altoona, Iowa. A funeral service will
take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in
Knoxville, Iowa. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Eric will be interred
at Graceland Cemetery following the service.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on February 16, 1967, Eric moved with his family to Knoxville,
Iowa, in 1974. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1985 and went on to earn his
bachelor’s degree from Grandview College. Eric was also close to completing his master’s
degree, reflecting his dedication to learning and self-improvement.
A gentle soul with a heart full of empathy, Eric had an enduring love for animals. Growing up,
he cared for a wide variety of pets, including dogs, skunks, raccoons, rabbits, and ducks, among
others. His home was always a refuge for creatures in need, and his compassion extended beyond
the animals to everyone he met.
Eric’s generosity and kindness were central to his life. He volunteered at The Well Thrift Store,
where he enjoyed connecting with others and giving back to the community. He often spoke of
how others had helped him throughout his life, and in return, he devoted much of his time and
energy to helping those in need.
Eric was known for his caring nature, always offering a listening ear or a helping hand to those
around him. His gentle spirit, sense of humor, and selflessness touched the lives of many. He was
a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Eric is survived by his son, Ethan Wilson; grandson, Huxley Wilson; parents, Terry and Pat
Wilson; brother, Brandon Wilson; niece, Abby (Mike) Wilson-Rector; nephew, Nolan (Katie)
Wilson; great nieces, Stella and Luna Rector; great nephew, George Wilson; dear friend,
Shannell Burnett; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
