Joan Kuyper Farver Named 2026 Women of Achievement Honoree

by Press Release

Pella Corporation is proud to announce that Joan Kuyper Farver has been selected as a 2026 Women of Achievement honoree by Women Lead Change.
Joan Kuyper Farver served as Chair of the Board of Pella Corporation from 1981 to 1995 and as Chair Emerita from 1995 until her death in 2017. She assumed leadership of the company following the deaths of her father and brother and guided Pella through a period of unprecedented growth.
Joan was recognized throughout her life for her integrity, generosity and genuine care for others. Her leadership was personal and hands-on. She regularly visited Pella facilities and took time to know employees individually, creating a culture grounded in mutual respect and care.
Her contributions extended far beyond the company. Joan served in leadership and board roles with organizations including Central College, Iowa Public Television, Iowa Children's and Family Services and the Iowa College Foundation. She also supported the Pella Community Foundation and family and corporate foundations focused on education, community development and social services.
Her legacy continues through the Joan Kuyper Farver Spirit Award, established in 2018 to recognize Pella team members who demonstrate community service and Joan's caring spirit.
The Women of Achievement Award recognizes historical Iowa women who made outstanding and lasting contributions to citizens of Iowa, the nation, and/or the world. Joan will be commemorated on the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge in downtown Des Moines.
